Civil War

BALDWYN – Dalton Eugene “Gene” Prentice, 85, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at his residence. He was born May 28, 1926 to Lawrence and Bertha Holmes Prentice. He was a retired barber, and Justice Court Judge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and an Army Veteran of WW II.

Gene was a friend to all that came in contact with him. My parents lived in the house with Gene and Ruby when they first married. Gene was a Barber in my grandaddy's Barber shop and a friendship was established between our families that lasted a lifetime. An easy laugh and a joking manner was  his way.  Thanks Gene for your friendship.

There will be other postings, but I sure could use some help with anything some of you might have from the 60's that you might want to share with classmates. you can email to me or post them on FaceBook and I can get there. Hope you enjoy. I have a limited number of email addresses so if you know anyone that might like to join in please let me know or have them email me at tomlamp@gmail.com. Introduction to 60Catspot

I have been following the Bearcat blog spot for several months and really enjoyed it. Even though I know a lot of the people and can relate to some of it through the people in church and by my relationship with an uncle of the previous decade, I feel we of the 60's can be better served by having a place we can go and express. This is not to take the place of the Bearcat blogspot just to supplement the dedication and love we all have for Baldwyn. It is my hope that those of the 60's can be as forthcoming in this blog as Carl and the Gang on the Bearcat blogspot.
As you see fit please submit any comments, stories or tall tales you might have in relation to those glorious years growing up in and around Baldwyn. I ask that you not submit anything that would be embarrasing or humiliating to anyone and keep it clean.
In the meantime Goooo Cats and Blog on.
